Registration

  • Residents of Georgia with a current GCA Membership. This entitles you to compete for the state championship, other honors, and trophies. All participants are eligible for cash prizes.
  • Players who do not live in the state of Georgia or who are not GCA members. GCA membership is required for trophies and titles but not required for cash prizes.
  • $50 entry fee for Unrated players (No USCF rating). Residents of Georgia must have a current GCA Membership.

$8,000 b/120; 4 Sections: 


Championship: (FIDE rated) Open to FIDE or US Chess 1900 or higher; $800-$500-$320; U2300: $375-$275; U2100: $300-220;

Amateur: Open to 1500-1999; $640-$360-$260-$200; U1750: $200-$150;

Reserve: Open to 1100-1599; $640-$360-$260-$200; U1450: $200-$1150;

Booster: Open to Under 1200 or unrated: $560-$360-$260-$200; U950: $200-$150.


All sections: Players (rated 1000 and above) may elect to enter the next higher section provided player’s Official rating is within 100 points of the next higher section’s rating minimum. All player’s “Official Rating” is per the USCF March 2023 Rating Supplement.


All (Awarding of Prizes): If any post-event rating published between 1/2/2022 thru 2/28/2023 was more than 50 points above the section rating maximum, the prize limit is $200. Balance of any limited prize(s) goes to the next player(s) in line.


Entry Fee: $95 for GCA members ($100 for non-GCA members), if received by March 29; $110 after March 29 or at site. (W)IGM, (W)IM Free ($50 deducted from any cash prizes won). Unrated: $50, if received by March 29; $60 at site. Re-Entry: $50 (Not available in “Championship” section). 3-Day Schedule: Reg. ends Fri. 7:00pm.


Rounds: Fri. 7:30pm; Sat. 2:30pm & 7:30pm; Sun. 10:00am & 3:30pm. 2-Day Schedule: Reg. ends Sat. 9:30am. Rds. Sat 10:00am, then same as 3-Day Schedule. Sat. 10:00am round is not FIDE-rated. 


Time control: G/90, inc. 30.  Sat. 10:00am round is G/60, inc. 30.


Byes: 1/2-Point Byes available for all rounds (limit two). Must request all 1/2-Point Byes before Round 1 begins. 0-Pt. Byes may be requested at any time. 


Players Must Bring Clocks

– Sets And Boards Are Supplied By The Georgia Chess Association. 


Georgia Residents: GCA membership required.
