Registration

  • This tournament is open to current K-12 scholastic girls residing in the state of GA.

Players need to have USCF memberships before registering for this event.

 

2019 GEORGIA STATE GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP

This event will honor scholastic players in Georgia in three sections: CHAMPIONSHIP (grades K-12), MIDDLE SCHOOL (grades K-8), and ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (grades K-5). The winner of the CHAMPIONSHIP section will represent Georgia at the 2019 National Girls Tournament of Champions.


ELIGIBILITY

  • All participants must be residents of the State of Georgia for 30 days prior to the date of the qualifying tournament.
  • Must be under the age of 20 on or before September 1, 2019.
  • The players must be completing at least 50% of their educational instruction in a state approved K-12 curriculum for a minimum of 30 consecutive school days prior to the qualifying event. Player may not be listed as a full-time college or university student prior to the qualifying event.

FORMAT

2-day USCF-rated event, 5-SS, Time-Control: G/90; d/5

3 rounds held on Saturday, 10 am - 2 pm – 6 pm and 2 rounds on Sunday, 10 am – 2 pm

 

AWARDS

Stipend of $500 to the winner to attend the 2019 National Girls Tournament of ChampionsTrophies to top two each section.


BYES

One “½ Point Bye” is available in Rounds 1 thru 4. A “Zero Point Bye” is available in Round 5. All Byes must be requested in advance of 1st round before pairings posted. No changes afterwards.


Entry Fee

$30.00.

GCA and USCF memberships (required) and must be purchased in advance if necessary.


Registration

You must register no later than Wednesday May 01, 2019. LATE registration ($40) will be open on Thursday May 02, 2019. If needing to cancel, please communicate this information ASAP, and preferably by the above date. Cancellations made by 8:00 am tournament day to receive a partial refund ($15).


Tie-break System

If two or more players have a perfect score, the tie will be broken by a Blitz playoff.  In the event of a tie involving players with less than perfect scores, the following tie-break system will be used in the order listed to determine who receives first place and therefore who will be Georgia’s nominee to the 2019 National Girls Tournament of Champions.
